Election Night Reactions: A Community in Reflection
The latest episode of the All About Nothing podcast dives deep into the aftermath of the 2024 election, reflecting on the surprising outcomes and what they mean for the future of American politics. Host Barrett Gruber expresses disappointment over the results, acknowledging the unexpected challenges faced by Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party. The discussion touches on the importance of local politics and community engagement, emphasizing that real change often starts at the grassroots level rather than solely relying on national elections. Guests "Midas" and "Famous" from the YouTube Channel, "No Shortcuts with Midas and Famous", along with Bill Frye join the conversation, sharing their insights and experiences, while also recognizing the need for accountability and action from elected officials. As the episode unfolds, it becomes clear that hope and resilience remain vital, even in the face of disappointment.

Hey, everyone, and welcome back to the All About Nothing podcast.
Barack Gruber:Today, I've got to take a moment to talk about something that's probably on a lot of our minds.
Barack Gruber: It's the outcome of the: Barack Gruber:Now, I'll be honest with you.
Barack Gruber:Like many of you, I had high hopes for this election.
Barack Gruber:I went in with my sleeves rolled up, full of optimism for change that we believed was coming.
Barack Gruber:I wanted this to be the election where we saw progress on issues that matter deeply, not just to me, but to my family, my friends, and our community here in South Carolina and across the country.
Barack Gruber:But as the dust settles, it's clear that things didn't turn out the way that many of us had hoped.
Barack Gruber:It's a hard pill to swallow.
Barack Gruber:It's disappointing when the vision we had for the future, one that you know, could uplift and improve lives, takes a hit.
Barack Gruber:But here's the thing.
Barack Gruber:Hope isn't gone.
Barack Gruber:Hope is stubborn.
Barack Gruber:And it's not a flame that gets snuffed out by one election.
Barack Gruber:If anything, this outcome reminds us that change isn't a single victory or a single defeat.
Barack Gruber:It is a long journey, and we've got to stay on it.
Barack Gruber:So here's my promise to you and to everyone listening.
Barack Gruber:We're not going to give up.
Barack Gruber:We're going to keep asking the tough questions, holding people accountable, and supporting each other.
Barack Gruber:And while we're at it, we're going to try and find ways to laugh, celebrate, and appreciate the good things.
Barack Gruber:Because that's part of resilience, too.
Barack Gruber:Let's take the lessons, the energy, and, yes, even the frustrations from this election and turn it into something constructive.
Barack Gruber:We'll keep pushing for what's right.
Barack Gruber:We'll keep striving for what's fair.
Barack Gruber:And we'll show up for ourselves, for each other, and for the future we still believe is possible.
Barack Gruber:Thank you for joining me.
Barack Gruber:Let's get into it.

Midas:Hey, man, thank you for having us.
Midas:It's a pleasure to be here.
Midas:We didn't do our live show this Tuesday, you know, because we understood it was a holiday.
Midas:Want to give everybody a chance to vote.
Midas:And we got.
Midas:We knew we were coming over here to hang out with you guys and do a little all about nothing session.
Midas:So we're excited to be here, man.
Zach King:If we can't, we can't talk to each other for a week.
Zach King:We got to come on somebody's show and do it.
Zach King:We didn't do our show.
Zach King:We got to find some way to get words out.
Midas:Somebody showed.
Barack Gruber:We're at our disposal.
Midas:Thank you so much.
Barack Gruber:First thing I want to do is I know when you listen to these episodes, you hear us talk about.

Barack Gruber:And honestly, please, if you could go check out ZJZ Designs.
Barack Gruber:This is.

Barack Gruber:This is one of the T shirts.
Midas:I love it.
Midas:I love it.
Barack Gruber:It's Tommy the turkey.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Tommy the turkey.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:She made sure that I had one to wear.
Zach King:Shout out to mom, he's a bird.
Barack Gruber:Hey, that's the word.
Zach King:Tom's a bird.
Zach King:Remember that?
Midas:Bird, Bird, bird.
Zach King:The Cosby Show Thanksgiving episode.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Oh, I didn't put two and two together, Mom.
Barack Gruber:That is copywritten.
Barack Gruber:You're gonna have to change that.
Bill Fry:All right.
Zach King:It's all good.
Barack Gruber:Like I said, Zach is going to be here in a few minutes.
Barack Gruber:We're going to be on for a little while.
Barack Gruber:We're going to do.
Barack Gruber:We're going to do our regular show, but Midas Famous, if you could one of you or both of you give us.
Barack Gruber:Give us an idea what you're.
Barack Gruber:I know.
Barack Gruber:I've.
Barack Gruber:I've watched it.
Barack Gruber:Matt Velarde bow.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Shout out to Matt.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, He.
Barack Gruber:He introduced me to it when.
Barack Gruber:When you all had him on.
Barack Gruber:And I have watched you guys every single week since then.
Midas:Man, we certainly thank you.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Tell us about the show.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Would you like to.
Midas:Famous.
Zach King:Okay.
Midas:I guess.
Midas:All right.
Midas:Well, ladies and gentlemen, no shortcuts with Midas and Fame.
Midas:We started the platform actually about three years ago.
Midas:Famous came to me with the idea of, you know, just creating a platform where we would initially start out sharing our stories of entrepreneurship, you know, and our journeys and things like that.
Midas:And in hopes to help others who have aspirations to, you know, have dreams or gifts, passions, whatever you.
Midas:Whatever you embody, you know, as your talent or your skill set to go after it.
Midas:You know, we have guests on weekly, allow them a chance to share their stories and promote themselves, but all with the idea in mind of inspiring others to take whatever that next step may be for them.
Midas:You know, we.
Midas:We believe that everybody has something they could bring to the table and something they could turn they for fun as a passion.
Midas:You.
Midas:Something you do for free.
Midas:Let's turn that into a means of being a career for yourself.
Midas:So in a nutshell, that's what our platform is built on.
Midas:Not only that, but we encourage those people to network.
Midas:We have our no shortcuts to community group on Facebook, and we try to interact, network with each other.
Midas:Famous as a dj, I'm a musician myself, but we're not limited to just the aspects of music.
Midas:We have people who have online stores, mobile bartenders.
Midas:You know, we've even talked to you mentioned I got Matt Velarde Bo.
Midas:You know, so he.
Midas:As far as politics and things like that.
Midas:So just whatever.
Midas:Whatever industry or aspect, you know, that you may be coming from, and a lot of times we understand that the information and the discussions don't just apply to being an entrepreneur.
Midas:A lot of things we discuss can also be applied to life in general.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:So we're just having a community.
Midas:Good old time over there.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:You know, I told you guys before we started, this is our.
Barack Gruber:When I started this podcast, it was.
Barack Gruber: It was back in: Barack Gruber:It was me just doing a running monologue of my thoughts on Donald Trump's presidency and my discomfort in that.
Barack Gruber:And one of the reasons that I did it was because I worked for a company that.
Barack Gruber:That, you know, when you work in a corporation or you work for a small business or anything like that, you know, the idea is that generally you don't want to discuss politics or religion or anything like that.
Barack Gruber:The truth of the fact is, at least at that company was you don't want to talk politics or religion if they are different from the owner, your directors, your vice presidents, you know, that's where you want to.
Barack Gruber:You're not welcome to discuss politics.
Barack Gruber:You're welcome, certainly, to take the abuse of listening to it.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:But that was essentially the idea.
Barack Gruber:So I started just basically recording myself on a couple nights a week and just publishing them.
Barack Gruber:Literally, I was publishing them myself.
Barack Gruber:To do a podcast, it requires creating an RSS XML feed, like a whole.
Barack Gruber:Basically scripting it out.
Barack Gruber:I wrote the whole thing for, like, the first 50 or 60 episodes.
Famous:Wow.
Barack Gruber:And.
Barack Gruber:And again, it was.
Barack Gruber:It was basically just a model.
Barack Gruber:Sometimes I'd have people on to talk with me over the phone or whatever.
Barack Gruber:But we have expanded into this.
Barack Gruber:We.
Barack Gruber: We won best of Columbia: Barack Gruber:This one over here, we were the best podcast local to Colombia.
Midas:Congrats.
Barack Gruber:2024.
Barack Gruber:We were the runner up because the second year running, the first year it was easy.
Barack Gruber:The second year, it just cost you a lot of money.
Barack Gruber:Oh, okay.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Like with anything else, huh?
Barack Gruber:Allegedly.
Midas:Allegedly.
Barack Gruber:But yeah, man.
Zach King:So that's essentially what we do right now.
Zach King:Just so I can be.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, I have something, but it's not.
Midas:It's not makers, Mark.
Midas:This is Arnold Palmer.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:And in a water bottle.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:And we got to shout you out for your.
Midas:For your 2K subscribe subscribers, you know.
Zach King:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Oh, look, honestly.
Barack Gruber:And you know what?
Barack Gruber:We've been sitting at 2,000 subscribers for a while.
Barack Gruber:Like.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Barack Gruber:I think.
Barack Gruber:And I'm just gonna say this.
Barack Gruber:I think that someone may have paid for some subscribers.
Midas:Okay.
Barack Gruber:I don't.
Barack Gruber:I don't know that we got those organically because over the course of like a month, month and a half, we just saw that number steadily rising.
Barack Gruber:And I.
Barack Gruber:My confidence level is low in that.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:So with that being said, we should encourage everyone who's watching right now to.
Midas:To hit the subscribe button on your channel, you know?
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:All About Nothing podcast.
Midas:And then also after you get off of here tonight.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:When you get out of here tonight, go over the no Shortcuts with Midas and Faye.
Midas:You might could minimize this for just a second if you got the right smartphone minimum.
Midas:Yeah, no shortcuts.
Midas:No shortcuts.
Midas:With Midas and Fame, we.
Midas:We cross collaborating this evening.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah, we got.
Barack Gruber:I see a couple comments out there.
Barack Gruber:Matt has said hello.
Barack Gruber:Okay.
Barack Gruber:Somebody titled the.
Barack Gruber:Has said good evening.
Barack Gruber:So.
Barack Gruber:Okay, everybody.
Midas:Yeah, that's from the All About Nothing.
Famous:Yeah, the Travel People podcast.
Barack Gruber:Oh, okay.
Midas:That's Ron.
Midas:Yeah, that's one.
Barack Gruber:Okay.
Midas:Mr.
Midas:Juan Velasquez.
Barack Gruber:So, you know, I have your business card and I.
Barack Gruber:I promise I will get in touch with you.
Barack Gruber:So no.
Barack Gruber:No worries on that.
Zach King:Yes.
Zach King:So essentially, before you.
Zach King:Before you go on, Barrett.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Zach King:Before you go on, let's give a shout out to Juan again at the Travel People podcast.
Zach King:Let's.
Zach King:While we're following each other and y'all subscribe to no Shortcuts.
Zach King:Oh, yes.
Zach King:Travel People podcast.
Zach King:He does a great show over there talking all about travel and cruising, and that's a great podcast as well.
Zach King:So let's all follow each other.
Midas:Yeah.
Zach King:And let's follow the Travel People podcast.
Zach King:We're actually going to be shooting a new episode next week, and it'll be out soon.
Midas:Yeah, Famous.
Midas:Famous is the producer of that one, as well as Women Worth and Weddings City over here.
Zach King:Yes, buddy.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Well, Juan, I'll make sure to include the link to the.
Barack Gruber:To the Travel.
Barack Gruber:Travel People podcast, too.
Midas:Yeah, we're going to have a good old time.
Barack Gruber:Check the show notes because you'll find all the links there.
Barack Gruber:So obviously we had a big week this week.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, it was.
Barack Gruber:And I'll just say it from my perspective, it was a disappointing week.
Barack Gruber:I'm not forcing my opinion on anyone else.
Barack Gruber:Um, my.
Barack Gruber:My disappointment came one from Matt Velarde bows campaign loss.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, we did.
Barack Gruber:We did lose to David Martin.
Barack Gruber:And our hope is that David Martin is successful in the.
Barack Gruber:In the State House.
Barack Gruber:That is mostly, you know, from.
Barack Gruber:From the perspective of local politics.
Barack Gruber:My hope is that David Martin is successful in being a reformer for the Republican Party and representing Fort Mill with the utmost strength that he can.
Barack Gruber:He has an upward battle to fight.
Barack Gruber:It's.
Barack Gruber:He is, he is definitely rowing against the current.
Barack Gruber:But our hope is that he is successful.
Barack Gruber:Yes.
Barack Gruber:Secondly, I made comments on the episode that was released last week.
Barack Gruber:I guess that Donald Trump was going to lose handily and that Harris was going to walk away with such a large electoral count that the Republicans were going to start abandoning Donald Trump.
Barack Gruber:I have eaten quite a bit of humble pie.
Midas:Yeah.
Zach King:And you're drinking a lot now.
Barack Gruber:Picking crow.
Midas:Yeah, you got to watch that pie down.
Barack Gruber:I am constantly picking crow out of my teeth.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:And I will say that there is, there is an infinite number of trolls that are making sure that they know that I know that they know I was wrong.
Barack Gruber:You know, it's.
Barack Gruber:And I'll just say again, I was wrong.
Barack Gruber:I read the situation completely incorrectly.
Barack Gruber:There was, there was so many data points that pointed towards a Harris blowout just based on early voter turnout and polling numbers.
Barack Gruber: en Trump and Biden run ran in: Barack Gruber:And I, I was completely wrong.
Barack Gruber:And admittedly I, you know, you know what, I'll just say this.
Barack Gruber:I'm a, I'm an Atlanta Braves fan.
Barack Gruber:I am an Atlanta Hawks fan.
Barack Gruber:I am an Atlanta Falcons fan and I'm used to losing.
Zach King:Hey, well, don't feel bad.
Zach King:Don't feel bad.
Zach King:Merit.
Zach King:You weren't the only one.
Zach King:I actually know.
Midas:Yeah.
Zach King:I don't know if you know about this, this guy.
Zach King:There's this guy that, an older gentleman and he had successfully, he's in politics.
Zach King:He had successfully predicted every presidential election since like the 70s or something.
Zach King:The only one he got wrong.
Zach King:Yeah, the only one he got wr.
Zach King:Wrong.
Bill Fry:What.
Zach King:There you go, Lickman.
Zach King:Yeah.
Zach King:The only one he got wrong was the one where he predicted Al Gore and technically Al Gore did win the popular vote.
Zach King:So that was kind of a.
Zach King:With an asterisk and he predicted that Harris would win this election as well.
Zach King:And now he's.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Zach King:Also eating.
Barack Gruber:Also eating crows.
Famous:I watched him tonight.
Famous:It was happening.
Midas:Really.
Famous:It was, it was wild.
Famous:Yeah.
Famous:I'm interested to see where everybody was at and what they were doing the, the night the, the election was going on.
Barack Gruber:Well, let's, let's, let's go around the room, let's talk and we'll start with you and people you at.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:And I was going to say and people in the Chat.
Midas:Feel free to chime in too, and tell us what.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah.
Midas:What you were doing.
Midas:But so.
Midas:Yeah, go ahead.
Midas:I'm sorry, I was just gonna say.
Barack Gruber:Midas, tell us where you were at and what, what sort of emotions were you going while you were watching?
Midas:All right, so I actually, I actually went to vote on Saturday, this past Saturday because normally as a musician, you know, my busier, busiest time of the year is like from spring until like the end of October.
Midas:So I actually was off this past weekend, so I took an opportunity to go vote early.
Midas:So I did that on Saturday.
Midas:Actually Tuesday night I was down at the, the church I played music for on Sundays, Mount do well Baptist church.
Midas:I was having a choir practice down there.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, with the men.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Thank you.
Midas:Thank you with that, with our men's choir there, man.
Midas:And so that was as we were dispersing rehearsal, you know, there was, there's always chatter on the way out.
Midas:You know, what, who do you think is gonna, you know, in the lead and this and that.
Midas:And so as I, as I came on home, you know, then we got my family, family group text and keeping an eye out on everything.
Midas:Just try the best that, to your ability with the understanding that all the, all the, all of the votes may not be in at that particular time.
Midas:But, you know, there was a, you're just trying to be, just trying to be hopeful, you know, and hope for the best, man.
Midas:You know, I will, I will say I'm not the biggest Donald Trump supporter, you know, and, you know, and just let me go back.
Midas:There was a time where you didn't even, you didn't even discuss who you, you know, who your interests may be vested in as far as your vote is concerned.
Midas:I remember growing up, you know, the pre social media, I think social media made it where.
Midas:Oh, there's my brother.
Midas:What's up, Matt?
Midas:Smooth sales in the House.
Midas:Thank you for joining us.
Midas:Member of the no shortcuts community.
Midas:But.
Midas:Yeah, but there was a time where you didn't even discuss these things.
Midas:And now you bring in the, the fact of being on social media, man, and everybody's so outward and so bold about what they believe and who they're going to be voting for.
Midas:You know, myself, you know, I look at it with, with Kamala Harris, man.
Midas:I mean, we were saying in the green room, she didn't ask to be in this position, but her being in the vice president as, as Joe Biden, you know, President Biden at the time stepping down, she, she next in line as they Say next in line.
Midas:So she only really since what, August 15th.
Midas:So we.
Midas:What did you say the number of days was?
Barack Gruber:7 days.
Midas:107 days.
Midas:But you like to be hopeful, man.
Midas:In this new as we in 20, 20, 24, you, you, you want to be hopeful that there's a possibility for some sort of change or some sort of change that kind of equals the playing ground for all.
Midas:You know what I mean?
Midas:And not just be of the mindset of the old regime and things like that.
Midas:Because the fact of the matter is we live in a diverse America.
Midas:You know what I mean?
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:It just is what it is at this point.
Midas:And I had friends in Canada, I got friends in the UK who reached out to me asking.
Midas:They're like, it's all over the news here.
Midas:So many words like, well, if our neighbors house is on fire, we'll be, we're concerned about them, you know.
Midas:So yeah, man, you're just trying to, and, and as I'm saying this, I'm trying to keep it as, as neutral as possible because you know, you know, when it comes to politics, everybody's sensitive and things like that.
Midas:But my, my hope and my, you know, my aspirations was for let's, let's try something new.
Midas:Now granted, you know, she's, she's a female and a female of color and you know, and the regime of the United States as we know it just may not be ready to handle that just yet.
Barack Gruber:You know, I think, I don't, I don't disagree.
Barack Gruber:And before we turn to famous, I'll say, I think one of the other issues is how Democrats approach that particular issue about our opinion that the MAGA wing, the gop, the Republican Party, how we approach that message of our concern that they're not ready for a woman president or they're not ready for a woman of color or they're not ready for a woman who also is of Asian descent.
Barack Gruber:You know.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, all of, all of these things add up and.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, but one of the things that I've had to come through my recognition of how I communicate, especially when it comes to being a campaign manager, of how to communicate that without making it sound like I'm accusing someone of being racist or I'm accusing someone of being a misogynist.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Calling Donald Trump a fascist, I think had basically no impact on anyone.
Barack Gruber:That to, as far as, as far as an impact on making the, or aligning them closer with Harris and so recognizing, recognizing that from a campaign perspective, but also recognizing that as a progressive, you know, I want to be able to tell people how, what my opinion is without making it seem like I'm belittling them because their opinion might be different.
Barack Gruber:That's, that's, that's one of those, that's one of those things that the Democratic Party just got really wrong.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Famous.
Barack Gruber:Tell us, where were, where were you on election night and what were you feeling?
Zach King:Well, it was all a dream.
Zach King:I used to read Word up magazine.
Zach King:I was actually Tuesday night, you know, we went early.
Zach King:When my wife got home from work, she actually thought I went ahead and voted without her.
Zach King:But I waited till she got home and we went over together.
Zach King:Our location is literally right across the street, so we just walk over there.
Zach King:But later in the night, you know, once the poll started closing, my daughter does a competitive cheer group and they have their rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Sundays.
Zach King:And so I was on my way to pick her up 8:30 that night, as did the first, you know, the first set of results started to win.
Zach King:And I just had it on my phone.
Zach King:I had the thing on my phone just kind of watching the numbers as I was driving, driving her back home.
Zach King:And once I got back home, you know, we just got settled in and we were just kind of watching a little bit here and there from bed and we just, at one point we turned it off and went on to watch 90 Day Fiance and then came back to it to see what the updates were because it just wasn't a whole lot of movement at that time.
Zach King:So we came back to it and just, you know, once we saw, you know, how she was underperforming even four years ago, numbers, you know, in some of those major places, we just kind of, you know, we kind of knew it was going to be uphill from there, so we just went ahead and turned that thing off and woke up to the man.
Zach King:But like you said, there was, there were some things that were, that were done wrong campaign wise.
Zach King:But even, you know, from the, from the standpoint of what you said, Barrett, about America not being ready for a black woman, there's a lot of blame to go around there and you know, to consider the fact also, both times that he's won, it was against a woman.
Zach King:Yeah, it was a white woman.
Barack Gruber:Yep.
Zach King:First time around.
Zach King:So you put any, you know, any halfway decent white man up there, there that can put a census together and then they know, okay, well, Trump's not the guy.
Zach King:But you put a woman up there, no matter how qualified and how they are, that's just not going to happen.
Zach King:And Like I said, there's a.
Zach King:There's a lot of blame to go around there as far as how we as a community.
Zach King:And I am speaking specifically to mine, how we see women, how our men see our women, and don't want them to succeed in that way.
Zach King:But we all got mothers and we all have daughters and we all have sisters, but any other black woman that's not in that category, we don't want no parts of it.
Zach King:So that's a little bit of a problem for me.
Zach King:But like you said, without getting, you know, offending anyone, because in the.
Zach King:In the words of Michael Jordan, the goat before the goat, and it took advice.
Zach King:Republicans by shoes, too.
Midas:Yo.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, true.
Barack Gruber:Truer words have never been said.
Midas:Yeah, man.
Zach King:You notice the goat before the goat, right?
Zach King:You notice that line?
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barack Gruber:Before the goat.
Barack Gruber:Before the goat.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, man.
Barack Gruber:Jordan, Kobe, and clearly LeBron.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Midas:Jordan.
Midas:Jordan's the goat, in my opinion.
Barack Gruber:You think Kobe.
Barack Gruber:Okay.
Barack Gruber:God.
Barack Gruber:Kobe.
Barack Gruber:Kobe.
Barack Gruber:I think Kobe, for me, represented every.
Barack Gruber:You know, because with Michael Jordan, I adore.
Barack Gruber:I loved walking, watching Michael Jordan play.
Barack Gruber:But, you know, I was a Hawks fan, so I had.
Barack Gruber:I had Dikembe Mutombo and I had Spud.
Midas:Rest in peace.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, absolutely.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:But.
Midas:But you know who.
Midas:You know, Kobe.
Midas:You know who's Kobe's mentor was, though, who we used to call and pick the brain of.
Midas:And let me get your workout regimen and your trainer and, you know.
Midas:Yeah, I believe it was Mike.
Barack Gruber:Mike.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Mike.
Barack Gruber:Oh, that's fair.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Fair.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:And.
Barack Gruber:And who better to tell you 1.
Barack Gruber:How to.
Barack Gruber:How to play the court, how to play the NBA.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:How to play the officials.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:How to.
Barack Gruber:How to market.
Barack Gruber:I mean.
Midas:Oh, yeah.
Bill Fry:The.
Barack Gruber:The marketing genius behind Jordan and Kobe and LeBron.
Midas:Oh, yeah.
Barack Gruber:Just, you know, and.
Barack Gruber:And you know who else played huge roles in their lives?
Barack Gruber:Their mothers.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:I mean, their mothers.
Barack Gruber:Their mothers were part of every decision they made from.
Barack Gruber:From college.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:You know, so true, man.
Midas:So getting back to what famous was saying.
Midas:Right.
Midas:Kind of.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:Tying it all in, you know, and, you know, and if we were.
Midas:To be totally honest, you know, as much as macho as we are, but, you know, and things like that as men, you know, the term happy, happy wife, happy life comes from somewhere, you know, and at the end of the day, man, you just have to weigh it out and sometimes change.
Midas:Something new could be good.
Midas:Something new could be good.
Barack Gruber:I wanna.
Zach King:It's just weird, man.
Zach King:I'll tell you.
Zach King:Go ahead, Barrett.
Barack Gruber:Oh, I was just gonna say.
Zach King:Just.
Barack Gruber:We'Re gonna do it.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, please, a little delay.
Zach King:So my, my wife works for a Department of Corrections and there's guys, she, she comes homes and tells me about guys in prison.
Zach King:You know, they're in prison, they've been in prison for 20 years.
Zach King:They're going to be in there for 20 more.
Zach King:And they're in there talking about Trump and talking about not voting for, you know, if they could, wouldn't vote for Harris.
Zach King:And it's just a male chauvinist situation.
Zach King:That's all it is.
Zach King:It's just a chauvinistic point of view, especially in, you know, rural areas.
Zach King:You know, we're in this, we're all, all of us here in the south, you know, South Carol Carolinas, all these rural areas still have that chauvinistic point of view.
Zach King:I'm from New York City.
Zach King:We knew what Trump was 40 years ago, you know what I'm saying?
Zach King:We knew he was, you know, we knew about the housing discrimination, we knew about the, you know, the untoward practices, things that, you know, where most of the rest of America started learning of him through a television show and then he came from there.
Zach King:But in New York City, we knew what this was always.
Zach King:So it's something to be said to that, going to specific audiences and areas and making them, making everybody crazy.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:And he can do no wrong.
Barack Gruber:Teflon Don.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, Teflon Don.
Barack Gruber:Ultimately that's what it always comes down to is that there's nothing in his supporters eyes that he can do.
Barack Gruber:And I'll comment on something on that in a minute.
Barack Gruber:But Bill, before we get to you, I want to also comment on just the upstream battle that Kamala Harris had to fight.
Barack Gruber:And one, the campaign for her was 107 days long.
Barack Gruber:Secondly, and I'm going to say this, and this is probably unpopular, but some people may agree with it.
Barack Gruber: Her fate truly was sealed in: Barack Gruber: When, when he was elected in: Barack Gruber: And in April or May of: Barack Gruber:I think that the likelihood is that they probably would have gone with a Shapiro from Pennsylvania.
Barack Gruber:They would have potentially gone with the governor of Kentucky.
Barack Gruber:You know, I'm not saying specifically who I think it would have been, but I think that Kamala Harris, when Biden stepped aside, Kamala was the only one that could take over those reins.
Barack Gruber:And not just.
Barack Gruber:Not just from the point of view or not just from the perspective of, you know, she's already the vice president, but for the only reason, because she was the vice president.
Barack Gruber:The amount of money that the Democrats raised could only go to her because she was on the ticket.
Barack Gruber:If.
Barack Gruber:If they had chosen anyone else, even without going through the process of primaries again, if they had chosen anyone else, that money's not accessible to them.
Barack Gruber:No.
Barack Gruber:No campaign can just move money to another campaign.
Midas:Right.
Barack Gruber:So Kamala had everything that could potentially tie her down.
Barack Gruber:Did.
Barack Gruber:And I want to.
Barack Gruber:Real quick.
Barack Gruber:Let me see.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:So Juan posted a message, and I completely agree.
Barack Gruber:He posted a message.
Barack Gruber:He said that they should have avoided overemphasizing first in a way that might overshadow the substance of her platform, but use it as a powerful compliment to her qualifications and.
Barack Gruber:Absolutely agree.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, 100% absolutely agree.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Because ultimately, what.
Barack Gruber:What occurred was she was trying to distance herself from Biden at the same time as she had to acknowledge the things that were done during that administration.
Midas:Right.
Barack Gruber:She couldn't.
Barack Gruber:She couldn't step aside from it.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:As they say, it's like, what, burning a candle on both ends.
Midas:Right.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:Oh, there's my mother.
Midas:Hey, Mom.
Midas:I love you, Ma.
Midas:Thank you for joining us.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:We're live.
Midas:Live with the All About Nothing podcast in conjunction with.
Midas:No Shortcut show.
Midas:You know, we gotta do it.
Zach King:We got to have you on our show, too.
Zach King:You and.
Midas:Yeah, that's.
Midas:I was thinking about that earlier.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Bill, you can come, too.
Barack Gruber:We're happy to join.
Famous:I'll go.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Yeah, Bill.
Midas:Have to do that.
Barack Gruber:Bill was.
Barack Gruber:Was probably the busiest among us because Bill is a journalist student at the University of South Carolina.
Midas:Okay.
Midas:Carolina.
Barack Gruber:He works for the South Carolina News or the Carolina News.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:So, Bill, give us.
Barack Gruber:Give us a short synopsis of your evening.
Midas:Oh, yeah, it was.
Famous:It was wild.
Bill Fry:Yeah.
Famous:So I work now for.
Famous:It's been a minute, by the way.
Famous:I'm sure people have probably noticed my absence from the.
Famous:From the podcast here.
Famous:I've been working about 60 hours a week, sometimes 70, on some broadcast journalism projects.
Famous:I've been producing, anchoring, reporting, all sorts of stuff.
Famous:But this past week, I was just.
Famous:I'm just on In Depth this week, so I have a story I'm working on that I can't talk too much about.
Famous:Never know if Wis or someone's going to be watching.
Famous:They were, they were with me that night.
Famous:Yeah, but I was.
Famous:I was out at the South Carolina Democratic Watch Party at the Beer Garden on Canal and at Canalside, where they had a big screen.
Famous:They had people, they had speakers.
Famous:Matter of fact, Wayne Borders, who we interviewed over the summer, was there.
Barack Gruber:That was a fantastic guy.
Famous:Real, real nice guy.
Famous:I was there.
Famous:And we watched his election results come in as well.
Famous:On top of.
Famous:Still on top of some others that did go well for the Democrats.
Famous:Of course, Jim Clyburn was there as well.
Famous:So he.
Famous:He was there along with several other speakers.
Famous:I.
Famous:I was the assistant to my good friend Jason Leonard, who was reporting that night.
Famous:And so we watched.
Famous:I mean, we watched the.
Famous:Everything come in.
Famous:We got reactions from several people.
Famous:I mean, it was a.
Famous:It was a big deal.
Famous:I mean, there was people from southern Germany, journalists from southern Germany.
Midas:Oh, wow.
Famous:Broadcasting out of this party.
Famous:I mean, and they just had these.
Famous:Had food for everyone, just.
Famous:And we just.
Famous:I kept track of all the numbers.
Famous:I had had a prediction that went up beforehand.
Famous: South Carolina's voting from: Famous: to see what it looks like in: Famous:Is.
Famous:It's interesting.
Famous:You should take a look at it.
Famous:Head over to Carolina reporter if you.
Famous:If you want to take a look.
Midas:All right.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:It's making me want a burger.
Barack Gruber:Continue.
Famous:Yeah, no, it was, it was.
Famous:It was fascinating because I, I had a.
Famous:I had a map made up before.
Famous:As a matter of fact, it's funny you brought up Alan Lickman, because I followed his keys very closely the entire time up through this election, as well as a lot of stuff based on previous elections that had happened in current polling.
Famous:And I had a map made up where it was already a tight race.
Famous:I mean, I had Wisconsin going two to Harris.
Famous:I still had Nevada going almost.
Famous:I mean, I think it was like 1%.
Famous:Same with Pennsylvania.
Famous:Pennsylvania I had a little bit more likely.
Famous:But it was wild to see.
Famous:As soon as Illinois came through and we saw numbers that were coming out of Chicago, numbers that were in New Jersey.
Famous:I mean, New Jersey might have.
Famous:What been.
Famous:Might as well have been a battleground state.
Midas:I was really.
Famous:I mean, it was wild.
Famous:And then I.
Famous:Around midnight, or maybe.
Famous:Maybe around that point, I'd seen what was going on With Philadelphia.
Famous:And as soon as I saw those.
Famous:Some of those numbers, I was like, it's.
Famous:It's going to be over.
Famous:And I think we're going to go to.
Famous:Gonna know the next day.
Famous:Yeah, I mean, yeah, I was fully.
Famous:I was telling everyone, like in my newsroom, I was like, it's going to take three, four days.
Famous:This is happen.
Famous:They were using my map.
Famous:I even felt bad because they were using my map.
Famous:So then the next day I walk in, I'm like, I'm just like, I'm wrong.
Midas:I was, I was.
Famous:I was wrong.
Famous:Those number.
Famous:The margins were close.
Famous:As a matter of fact, if you look back at my map, I have it.
Famous:The margins are very tilt, but it goes the way I thought was going to go for Harris, but exactly for Trump.
Famous:So, yeah, it was very interesting to see those numbers come in.
Zach King:Hey.
Midas:Yeah, man.
Barack Gruber:Midas.
Barack Gruber:Midas says she's just getting off of her broadcast.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Midas:She.
Midas:She has the.
Barack Gruber:Her.
Midas:Our power.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Midas:So she's a member of our.
Midas:Of course.
Midas:No, no Shortcuts platform as well, but she has her own platform.
Midas:So.
Midas:Hey, listen, if you need a good spiritual word, ladies and gentlemen, go over to the Hour of Power channel over on YouTube.
Midas:You know, Apostle Francis D.
Midas:Hardison Ministries.
Midas:We plug in.
Midas:We plug in all the podcasts here tonight.
Zach King:We gotta have your mom on our show too, because she's.
Zach King:She's an entrepreneur.
Zach King:She.
Zach King:She fits right into, you know, what shortcuts thing.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, and we gotta.
Barack Gruber:We're gonna get that scheduled.
Midas:We still got to schedule my mom.
Barack Gruber:ZJZ designs dot com.
Barack Gruber:Go check it out.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barack Gruber:So yeah, I.
Barack Gruber:I was.
Barack Gruber:I was up in York county with the Evangeline Hudley Hundley's.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, Shout out campaign.
Midas:I, you know, I played her political party and I.
Midas:I think it was in June or.
Midas:Campaign party.
Midas:Excuse me.
Midas:My outfit.
Midas:Mellow Groove.
Midas:Yeah, we played her.
Midas:Her campaign party.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah, we were at the.
Barack Gruber:We were at the Mercantile.
Midas:Mercantile.
Midas:Okay.
Barack Gruber:And Rock Hill.
Barack Gruber:Okay.
Barack Gruber:And so shout out to the.
Barack Gruber:The Mercantile.
Barack Gruber:Because they put on a really good.
Barack Gruber:A really good.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I guess.
Midas:Yeah, they do.
Midas:That's where I was at too, when we.
Midas:When we had our campaign party.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barack Gruber:I.
Barack Gruber:I think that's.
Barack Gruber:That might be her favorite.
Midas:Might be the spot.
Midas:The Mercantile.
Midas:Shout out to the Mercantile.
Zach King:Love it.
Barack Gruber:So we were, you know, we were.
Barack Gruber:We were trying to watch the numbers come in and of course, with local politics, state.
Barack Gruber:State houses and such like that, the Department of State for South Carolina doesn't put out those numbers very quickly because it's hard to get those reported from, say, York county all the way to the state and then them publishing on their webpage.
Barack Gruber:So we had, there were several people that were out, like literally taking pictures of the poll tickets to publish the number, to get the numbers to us.
Barack Gruber:And I left around 9:00 or about 8:30, 9:00 to head home.
Barack Gruber:I live in Columbia, Rock Hills, a drive.
Midas:Oh, wow.
Midas:Okay.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, so, and then we also had some other stuff going on, but essentially it was, we were there watching the returns come in on msnbc and everybody was just, everybody, when I was, when I was there, everybody was seemingly having a good time.
Barack Gruber:It was, it was the time, by the time I got to the interstate, it was for me, just, just seeing the turnout, the numbers, how Harris was underperforming in Atlanta, how she was underperforming in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, she was underperforming what the expectation was.
Barack Gruber:I got home, turned on MFCNBC and basically just watched exactly what I, what I, what I saw happening in real time.
Barack Gruber:What I thought was going to happen by the time I hit the interstate.
Barack Gruber:And yeah, was, you know, my emotions, I was crushed.
Barack Gruber:I did not see it go in this direction.
Barack Gruber:And, and, you know, I definitely, I definitely my mind was in fear of what a Donald, a second Donald Trump presidency means for marginalized communities across the country.
Barack Gruber:My fear of what happens in Gaza, my fear of what happens with Ukraine, and ultimately the only, the one and a half hours that I got of sleep that night, the only thing that really was able to calm my nerves to the point where I could go to sleep was, look, Donald Trump is a 78, going to be 79 years old here very soon.
Barack Gruber:That in his first term.
Barack Gruber:I viewed his first term as being so incompetent that he didn't get a lot of the things done that he said he was going to do.
Barack Gruber:And I think I was able to squelch some of the fear I had that night, recognizing that the possibility is that his second term may be the same.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I, I, I don't think that's going to be the case.
Barack Gruber:I think that they're probably going to be able to get a lot of the stuff done that they want to or he said that he's going to get done, mostly because I don't think there will be any of those moderate voices in the room this time.
Barack Gruber:I think that he's going to surround himself with people that will, that won't push back on some of the stuff that he says.
Barack Gruber:And so that ultimately, that's my fear.
Barack Gruber:But I say that as a fear, recognizing that it hasn't happened yet.
Midas:Right.
Barack Gruber:And it's.
Barack Gruber:For me, I can't, I don't, I don't want to speculate on what I think is going to happen based on fear because this is what I tell my kids all the time.
Barack Gruber:Fear isn't real.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, danger is real.
Barack Gruber:You can fear danger, but danger is the only thing that's real.
Barack Gruber:Real, not fear.
Famous:Yeah, there are some legitimate things that he has said that's unbiased.
Famous:Oh, yeah, you can go ahead, go ahead, finish that.
Famous:I was just going to say there was some.
Famous:There's stuff that's unbiased that I mean, he's been very clear about this entire time.
Famous:I mean, it's not biased to say that he's talking about mass deportations.
Famous:He's still talking about that.
Famous:He's talking about, I mean, cutting Social Security.
Famous:I mean, there's a lot of those things.
Famous:Yeah, there's been some of those things.
Famous:If other cabinet members in project that were 20.
Midas:25.
Midas:Right.
Famous:25, that will be on his thing.
Famous:There's a chance.
Famous:Department of Education, what's that going to look like?
Famous:RFK is going to be on the FDA.
Famous:What is that going to look like?
Famous: % tariffs on China,: Famous:I mean, what, what could that look like?
Famous:I mean, those are legitimate concerns that he has said.
Famous:I mean, he has also talked about putting a target on Liz Cheney and targeting Marxists and Communists in America.
Famous:I mean, what does this mean?
Famous:That is.
Midas:Right.
Midas:That's the very.
Midas:Yeah.
Zach King:Well, I just want to, first off, I have to thank you guys again for having us because I do have to, I do have to jump off here in a second.
Zach King:But speaking to, you know, what you said about the fear, we're kind of at that point where there's not much we can do.
Zach King:Right.
Zach King:It's done.
Zach King:Unfortunately, I just kind of live in a perspective of what can I do?
Zach King:What kind of world do I want to live in?
Zach King:Right.
Zach King:And then part two is what can I do to contribute to the type of world that I want to live in?
Zach King:It's not much we can do about, you know, presidents and things like that.
Zach King:I will say more and more, you know, even more importantly than before is getting involved in your local politics.
Zach King:And I know this is something you guys are probably going to talk about later, but like I said, I got to step off.
Zach King:But getting involved in your local pockets what you're doing with Evangeline Huntley and with.
Zach King:With Matt.
Zach King:These things are important, you know, a lot of times more important than the president, because the president still has to get stuff past people.
Zach King:What's happening in your communities is what you can directly affect.
Zach King:Who's the district attorney, you know, who's putting.
Zach King:Who's putting these people in jail unfairly for, you know, unequal, you know, unequal jail terms for similar crimes.
Zach King:Who's doing this?
Zach King:Who's the judges that we're electing?
Zach King:A gentleman just got sentenced.
Zach King:He just.
Zach King:The death penalty was just carried out in Colombia last week on the first.
Zach King:Right.
Zach King:Do you know the story about this guy Barrett?
Zach King:He.
Zach King:He's 59 years old.
Zach King:Yeah.
Zach King:He committed.
Zach King: This was in: Zach King:He walked into a convenience store unarmed.
Zach King:And he was.
Zach King:Admittedly, I think he was high.
Zach King:Right.
Zach King:But he went to make a purchase and he didn't have enough money.
Zach King:And there was an argument with the clerk because he didn't have enough money to purchase what he was trying to purchase.
Zach King:And he, you know, he was out of his mind.
Zach King:But the clerk pulled the gun on him.
Zach King:And then the clerk got killed.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Zach King: In: Barack Gruber:Yep.
Zach King:And then he was sentenced to death.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Zach King:Let's make.
Zach King:Let's make that makes sense.
Zach King:And how does that make sense?
Zach King:So, yeah, that's my point is who are we electing to be judges in our districts and district attorneys in our districts?
Zach King:Who are the sheriffs in our districts?
Zach King:These are things that we can directly affect in our communities.
Zach King:More so than who the president is of the United States.
Zach King:Right.
Zach King:And like I said, Barry, what you were doing with Matt and Evangeline Hunley, I commend you for that because these are the local.
Midas:Absolutely.
Zach King:The local difference makers, more so than the national figureheads.
Barack Gruber:I'll just say this.
Barack Gruber:Governor McMasters, his defense, attempted to try and get clemency or at least a stay of execution.
Barack Gruber:Governor McMaster's decision on his execution was to go through with it because he had previous criminal charge.
Barack Gruber:And that.
Barack Gruber:That, to me, you're.
Barack Gruber:That is.
Barack Gruber:That is an overstep of one.
Barack Gruber:A criminal indictment.
Barack Gruber:Excuse me.
Barack Gruber:That, to me, doesn't make sense.
Barack Gruber:He had a previous criminal charge that he was.
Barack Gruber:He was either charged with and served his time, or he was expunged of the.
Barack Gruber:The situation.
Barack Gruber:I.
Barack Gruber:I have to look into it.
Barack Gruber:I don't know.
Zach King:There are certain other people.
Zach King:But the point is there are other people in prison for far worse that didn't get a death sentence.
Zach King:Right.
Zach King:So there's to be said.
Zach King:And I'm in.
Barack Gruber:People that are in jail.
Midas:Well, that too, yeah.
Midas:Prison ministry.
Zach King:Very.
Zach King:I do prison ministry as well.
Zach King:So I'm in prison a lot.
Zach King:Like I said, my wife works in the prison for the Department of Corrections.
Zach King:Not just one prison, but for the Department of Corrections.
Zach King:So we see all the time and we hear these stories of these young men that are doing.
Zach King:Guy did something when he was 18, 19 years old.
Zach King:Right before this last gentleman that was executed.
Zach King: years old back in: Zach King:So now he's done almost 30 years in prison.
Zach King:And now they executed for this crime when he was 19 years old.
Zach King:Who are.
Midas:We just gotta let that ride out in these places.
Zach King:That's not the president of the U.S.
Zach King:that's doing that.
Zach King:That's not Donald Trump doing that.
Zach King:That's not Kamala Harris.
Zach King:That's not Joe Biden doing that.
Zach King:Who are we putting in these positions to make those kind of decisions, to execute someone for what they did when they were a kid?
Barack Gruber:Yep.
Barack Gruber:And you're absolutely right.
Zach King:The gentleman just last week has been a model prisoner.
Zach King:He's helped, you know, other prisoners since then.
Zach King:Everybody's, you know, having great things to say about them.
Zach King:But for something you did 30 years.
Midas:Ago, because of that.
Midas:Yeah.
Zach King:I think that's breaking news.
Zach King:Our focus should be Juan for mayor in Fort Mill.
Zach King:I agree.
Zach King:I agree.
Barack Gruber:For mayor.
Midas:I, I thought he already was the main.
Midas:He's the mayor.
Midas:He's at the people's champion.
Zach King:I want to leave you all with a little bit of food for thought as far as that concerned with our local politics.
Zach King:I know the, you know, the, the main, the main subject of this particular show is about the presidential election and all, but I just wanted to put some food for thought in terms of being more involved in our local politics and our councilmen.
Zach King:Like what you're doing with our mayors, with our district attorneys, with our sheriffs.
Zach King:All of these are elected positions.
Zach King:But, but there's some, there's a big population of us that just kind of go out every four years and vote for the big one.
Zach King:And there's more work to be done there.
Midas:And shout out to William Bump.
Midas:Roddy.
Zach King:Yeah, yeah, Councilman Roddy.
Zach King:Absolutely.
Zach King:And like I said, I do have to, I do have to step off, guys.
Zach King:And I do appreciate you having me and minus Famous.
Zach King:No shortcuts.
Barack Gruber:Famous.
Barack Gruber:Before you jump off my thing.
Barack Gruber:Famous.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Before you jump off Though Give us, give it, give, give us your business tell, tell us what your businesses are.
Midas:Hey.
Barack Gruber:And so we can make sure to include those.
Zach King:Hey, I appreciate that man.
Zach King:And I want to hear all the things when I do it.
Zach King:I am the owner of FMG Event Company.
Zach King:We, we do primarily weddings but also private events.
Zach King:Pause please.
Zach King:All private events.
Zach King:Tennessee, Georgia, Florida.
Zach King:We're all up and down.
Zach King:Not just weddings, private events.
Zach King:I' also a budding podcast producer like these gentlemen here with the shortcut show with the travel people with Juan.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Zach King:And women worth and weddings.
Zach King:And there's another podcast coming soon that I'm a little bit tight lipped about but it is on the way.
Midas:Okay.
Zach King:FMG event company.com and all the social medias are at FMG event company and at no shortcut show.
Barack Gruber:All right.
Zach King:How many days?
Barack Gruber:I'll make sure that that's all included in the notes.
Barack Gruber:Well, five.
Barack Gruber:Is it?
Barack Gruber:Five?
Midas:Yeah, at least.
Famous:Five.
Bill Fry:Yeah.
Zach King:Thanks man.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, at least.
Barack Gruber:I gotta be honest.
Barack Gruber:That means, that means you, you have to take advantage of the evening hours you have available with your kids.
Zach King:Thank you, sir.
Barack Gruber:Famous, we really, really appreciate with us tonight.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, really.
Midas:We'll catch up with us tonight.
Zach King:We'll talk soon.
Barack Gruber:Bill.
Bill Fry:Bill.
Barack Gruber:And I'll definitely be no doubt soon.
Midas:Yeah, we're going to work it out.
Midas:We can work it out.
Barack Gruber:So one of the, one of the things that I also wanted to talk about was the here and this is, this is, this is mostly just from a historical aspect.
Barack Gruber:I'm not, I'm not making any claims or trying to disparage anyone.
Barack Gruber:Donald Trump got just under 72 million votes.
Barack Gruber: million less than he got in: Barack Gruber:Harris got 67 million votes.
Barack Gruber: less than Biden got in: Barack Gruber:Okay, here's the comparison and I'm not saying this to Fear Monger.
Barack Gruber:I'm not saying this to say that there is any sort of.
Barack Gruber:I'm not, I'm not trying to make an accusation.
Midas:Right.
Barack Gruber:From a historical aspect.
Barack Gruber: ler was elected Chancellor in: Barack Gruber:That is an odd similarity to what we had this time.
Barack Gruber:Had, had, had, had voters turned out this election likely would have turned out differently.
Barack Gruber:Again, I'm not, I'm not saying that Donald Trump is Hitler.
Barack Gruber:I'm not saying that he is a fascist.
Barack Gruber:I'm just making a comparison.
Midas:The numbers.
Barack Gruber: At least in the: Barack Gruber:The fascist was elected because fewer people turned out that is, that, that is, that is something that is.
Barack Gruber:That just happened to catch my eye when I was doing some research in looking at some of the, some of the exit polling information.
Barack Gruber:Men didn't vote for Harris.
Barack Gruber:It was 42, 55%.
Barack Gruber:Men, females almost didn't vote for Harris.
Barack Gruber:It was 53 to 45 in favor of Harris.
Barack Gruber:White people didn't turn out for Harris, despite the fact that there seemed to be an overwhelming support, especially financially.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, whites voted for Trump 57 to 41.
Barack Gruber:One of the things that we discussed on our show earlier this summer was that black men did feel disenfranchised with Kamala Harris because they didn't, they didn't know what it was that she had done as far as being an ag, being a district attorney, being a senator, what she had done to try and better the lives or at least show, show an attempt for black men.
Barack Gruber:But black men turned out for Kamala Harris.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, Black women turned out for Kamala Harris.
Barack Gruber:This was the support for Kamala Harris from the black community was almost exactly where you would have expected it to have been.
Barack Gruber:Donald Trump got 13% of black men and women, okay, Hispanics, Latino descent.
Barack Gruber:This is one of the ones that was the most surprising, which was that Hispanics turned out for Trump at about 46%.
Barack Gruber:Now, Biden had.
Barack Gruber: ter turnout with Hispanics in: Barack Gruber:And I think the thing that, what I'm reading and what I'm seeing, all opinions, but there is a, there's a consensus that, that it looks like one of the reasons that Hispanics didn't turn out for Harris the way they turned out for Biden was because the Democratic Party has, has shifted a lot towards the educated community or, you know, the college degrees that people generally making, you know, anywhere between 70 and up, up to the billionaires, of course, but that Democrats have, have shifted from being the party of the lower class and middle class to now being the party of the middle and upper middle class.
Barack Gruber:And that, that is not the, that is not the Hispanic community, which they're disenfranchised because a lot of the Hispanics that are in the United States are here on that are here are doing the lower wage jobs.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:The jobs that basically are the backbone of the country, they're not being paid a salary for.
Barack Gruber:And I read a book, and if I had it in front of me, I'd show it to you, but it is, it's called Deer Hunting with Jesus.
Barack Gruber:And I can't remember the name of the.
Midas:Author.
Barack Gruber:The author, Yeah.
Midas:I can look it up for you real quick.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:But basically it's a book specifically about where he came from in the Appalachians of West Virginia and how the poor white community votes Republican based on this idea that the Republican Party is the party of Christianity and evangelicalism, that the Republican Party is the one that is the most likely to provide for the poor whites, that the Republican Party is the only one looking out for the poor whites because communication from the Democratic Party is always acknowledging the minorities.
Barack Gruber:But I think, and you might can attest to this, Midas, that do the Democrats really turn out and actually support the black community?
Barack Gruber:And Juan, if, you know, if you online, welcome.
Barack Gruber:Zach King.
Barack Gruber:Zach King.
Bill Fry:Sorry, guys.
Midas:What's happening?
Bill Fry:Did I miss the macabre therapy session today?
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Yeah, man.
Midas:I mean, of course I can speak for myself, you know, and I.
Midas:And I definitely, definitely did, you know, and it's hard to say.
Midas:I mean, obviously you have the numbers, right, but it's hard to say because again, it's like when it comes to the vote and it's not really discussed.
Midas:I don't really discuss it, you know, with.
Midas:With like, my fellow fellow people that much.
Midas:We have conversation, but we never get down to the who you gonna vote for?
Midas:Type of thing.
Midas:But I.
Midas:Speaking for myself, you know, I.
Midas:I was.
Midas:I made it a point to.
Midas:To support Kamala Harris, you know, just from a standpoint, like I said earlier, you know, at the end of the day, you know, you have to.
Midas:You have to desire some sort of change.
Midas:And we've.
Midas:We've seen four years with.
Midas:With Donald Trump, and.
Midas:And let's not forget what happened.
Midas:What was it, January 6, after he had to.
Midas: In: Midas:And.
Midas:And we've never seen anything like that before in our country, you know, and.
Midas:And, you know, and when you look.
Midas:When you look at qualities of leadership, you know, you want.
Midas:You want to.
Midas:You.
Midas:You want to look upon somebody who.
Midas:Self awareness, you know, they can.
Midas:Self control, you know, you're compassionate.
Midas:There's certain things, qualities you look for in a leader, having integrity, you know, these.
Bill Fry:These things from Donald Trump.
Midas:Yes, I'll let you say.
Midas:But, you know, so speaking for myself, as it pertains to the.
Midas:The African American vote from a male standpoint, I was in support of Kamala Harris, you know.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:So.
Bill Fry:And we.
Bill Fry:I wasn't here, so maybe we already covered it, but it was.
Bill Fry:It was the young white male voters who.
Bill Fry:Who Blame everybody else for them being.
Bill Fry:Yeah, that look, ruin this for everybody.
Bill Fry:It's your Joe Rogan podcast listeners.
Bill Fry:It's your, it's your Shane Gillis dogs.
Bill Fry:It's.
Bill Fry:It's those people that, that for no intelligible reason, like Donald Trump outside of, like, it's tough.
Bill Fry:He's a bully.
Bill Fry:Says what he's thinking.
Bill Fry:Like, it's not a great trait.
Midas:Right, Right.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:I will say this, I will say this as well.
Barack Gruber:The number of people that I saw, you know, whether it was them being on, interviewed on TikTok creators or them creating their, you know, they're their own influencers or whatever on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, whatever, the number of them that said basically that they would say things like, you know, Donald Trump says, says, you know, he's tough.
Barack Gruber:He's going to be tough on Russia.
Barack Gruber:He's going to be tough.
Barack Gruber:You know, these are all things.
Barack Gruber:But, you know, hear them say that.
Barack Gruber:Completely ignoring everything that Donald Trump says, which is, I get along very long.
Barack Gruber:I get along very well with John with Putin.
Barack Gruber:I almost called him Donald put Putin.
Barack Gruber:I get along very well with Chi.
Barack Gruber:She is an incredibly smart man.
Barack Gruber:He rules.
Barack Gruber:He rules China with an iron fist.
Barack Gruber:And it's like.
Barack Gruber:And, and, and he's very smart.
Bill Fry:Kim Jong Un, very, very tough leader.
Bill Fry:Very, very powerful man in this country.
Barack Gruber:It's a.
Barack Gruber:And, and, and look, one, one said it.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, there's a cult.
Barack Gruber:He has a cult following.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:He can do no wrong.
Midas:Huh?
Bill Fry:It is.
Barack Gruber:It is.
Barack Gruber:You know, and, and, and, and someone, you know, any.
Barack Gruber:Someone on the other side could certainly look at me being a progressive and say, you know, I'm.
Barack Gruber:I'm brainwashed.
Barack Gruber:I am, I am.
Barack Gruber:I am.
Barack Gruber:I believe these things that people say that, that are in favor of my opinion.
Barack Gruber:Y'all are doing the same fucking thing completely.
Barack Gruber:You're not, you're not paying attention.
Barack Gruber:You're, you know, and, and, and I will acknowledge, I think the Democrats, I said it before Democrats screwed up this election, and ultimately 15 million of them did.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:But I'll also say this, for me, looking at how the events played out, I think Biden was a good president.
Barack Gruber:I think that he did a lot of good things in his term that helped America.
Barack Gruber:The CHIPS act, the Infrastructure act, these are things that brought in jobs.
Barack Gruber:These are things that moved jobs back to the United States.
Barack Gruber:He did enforce tariffs on countries where goods were coming in in order to create a competitive situation for the.
Midas:For.
Barack Gruber:Those companies overseas so that the companies here could empower themselves to be able to sell their products for the same price that are being sold now because of the tariffs.
Barack Gruber:These are things that Biden's administration did in conjunction with Congress.
Barack Gruber:And he, I don't think he gets enough credit for those things.
Barack Gruber: g, in April or May or June of: Barack Gruber:I'm stepping.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, this was my, this was my one, my one, my one term.
Barack Gruber:I'm going to do this.
Barack Gruber:I'm out.
Barack Gruber:I'm going to turn it over to the Democrat.
Barack Gruber:I'm going to turn it over to the public.
Barack Gruber:I'm going to turn it over to the party.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:They will decide who takes my place.
Bill Fry:Let me, let me bring it back to something you said beforehand, Barrett, where you were talking about the cult of Trump could look at you and right wing people can look at you and go, well, you're brainwashed by the left side just as much as I am from the right side.
Bill Fry:The number one thing I did for the last two days, day and a half to two days internally was look at myself, because I'm always preaching, challenge your worldviews.
Bill Fry:And if you're not challenging your world views, you're not growing, you're not critically thinking.
Bill Fry:Was the biggest thing I did was sit back and go, am I, am I nuts?
Bill Fry:Am I on the wrong side?
Bill Fry:Because it happened again.
Bill Fry:The thing I did not think would happen again happened.
Bill Fry:So am I crazy?
Bill Fry:And you look at, you look back at all the policies, the whole campaign, the things he says, can't find where I'm in the wrong on this one, that this is a psychopath who is genuinely doing this for himself.
Bill Fry:He doesn't even care for the people who voted for him.
Bill Fry:He's not doing a single thing for anyone else.
Bill Fry:He's doing it for him.
Bill Fry:Always done everything for himself.
Bill Fry:And that's still where it's pointed.
Bill Fry:The one of solace that I get from it is him.
Bill Fry:His cabinet are incompetent.
Bill Fry:I think they've done some of the biggest things they can do with stacking the Supreme Court, which will get worse, removing women's rights, which could get worse.
Bill Fry:But I do think that the dagger's been stabbed and this is this.
Bill Fry:The people who pissed them off are going to pay the most for it.
Bill Fry:And if they stay on that witch hunt, that's where it's going to lead.
Bill Fry:But I don't think I'm wrong in this, that compassion is what we tried.
Bill Fry: ran on things that people in: Bill Fry:And they, they still chose hate over everything else.
Bill Fry:They chose rhetoric over everything else.
Bill Fry:And I don't think you can fight with love anymore.
Bill Fry:And I think scathing Atheists had a good, good intro for that today.
Bill Fry:Talking about what else do you do except for fight hate with hate, that's all that seems to resonate with them is so plant something in the ground that's going to grow this time.
Bill Fry:Because love wasn't it.
Bill Fry:Yeah, like it just wasn't it.
Barack Gruber:To your, to your point, Zach, like, if, if, if anyone follows my TikTok or, or the, the podcast TikTok, I, I put out a state, I put out a, a video basically acknowledging and the number of trolls that.
Midas:Oh, I can imagine that seeing it too.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, basically.
Barack Gruber:Basically the, the number of people that would come in and say, you know, that didn't age well.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I admit it.
Barack Gruber:I, I told you I was wrong.
Barack Gruber:I, I acknowledged it.
Barack Gruber:I.
Barack Gruber:Here, here's, here's something.
Bill Fry:It's called humility.
Bill Fry:They're not used to it, dude.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, they're.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I, look, I'm the most, I'm the most humble person on the planet, just so you know.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Midas:But hit the bell for yourself one time.
Bill Fry:No one's more humble than I am.
Barack Gruber:Look, but, but like I, one of the, one of the comments that somebody wrote to me was they said, they said that, you know, that it takes a big man to acknowledge that your party lost.
Barack Gruber:And I said, yeah, I said, I completely acknowledge it.
Barack Gruber: I acknowledge that we lost in: Barack Gruber: I acknowledge that we lost in: Bill Fry:Guess what we didn't do?
Bill Fry:Turn to conspiracy theories and storm the Capitol.
Barack Gruber:Well, so I will comment on that.
Midas:Yeah, that's crazy.
Famous:Conspiracy.
Barack Gruber:There are a number.
Bill Fry:Where's the X Files theme?
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I don't have it on me.
Barack Gruber:There are a number of left leaning influencers on social media that are out there saying that, but there has to be something that went on as to why there were 16 to 20 million people that didn't vote this time around.
Midas:Yeah, I don't, I have no idea.
Bill Fry:I think we need to man up and just take the L right here and show them how it's done and then come back swinging Harder.
Bill Fry:Like Stallone said, Rocky said, it ain't how hard you hit, it's how hard you get hit and keep moving forward.
Bill Fry:So, yeah, I don't have time for conspiracies.
Bill Fry:Let's just take our l.
Bill Fry:Fight harder.
Barack Gruber:And that's.
Barack Gruber:And that.
Barack Gruber:I think that's ultimately.
Bill Fry:When.
Barack Gruber:When Harris conceded yesterday or.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yesterday, I.
Barack Gruber:When she conceded, she didn't.
Barack Gruber:She didn't say anything about, you know, this election was stolen from me.
Midas:Right, right.
Barack Gruber:This, you know, gotta do it gracefully.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:And what class.
Barack Gruber:Because that's what we do as a country.
Barack Gruber: ump still hasn't conceded the: Barack Gruber:He has never.
Barack Gruber:And he's admitted at times that he's lost.
Barack Gruber:But I think that's.
Barack Gruber:That's when, you know, when the Adderall.
Barack Gruber:You know, when the Adderall effect is coming down versus him taking a handful of pills to bring it back up.
Barack Gruber:And look, that can be a conspiracy, too.
Barack Gruber:I'll flat out it.
Midas:We'll say allegedly.
Barack Gruber:Allegedly.
Barack Gruber:The man.
Barack Gruber:The man eats Adderalls like Tic Tacs.
Midas:Oh, man.
Barack Gruber:Allegedly.
Bill Fry:So what's the amendment that had.
Bill Fry:That instituted term limits?
Bill Fry:Was it the 22nd?
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I think the 22nd or 23rd.
Bill Fry:So if he does away with that, he's like, I'm gonna be.
Bill Fry:I'm gonna be president till I'm done.
Bill Fry:Then, you know, he's a step in the ring.
Bill Fry:Let me take this one.
Bill Fry:Come.
Bill Fry:Coming in.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Midas:Number three.
Midas:Absolutely.
Midas:This guy does good impressions, by the way.
Midas:Zach.
Midas:That's good.
Barack Gruber:Zach is.
Barack Gruber:Zach does all the impressions.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Is Joe Rogan in the house tonight?
Barack Gruber:Not Joe Rogan.
Barack Gruber:Sorry.
Barack Gruber:Is Seth Rogen in the house tonight?
Midas:Oh, Seth Rogan.
Bill Fry:I can't believe we lost.
Bill Fry:Oh, yeah.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:He's good.
Bill Fry:Good.
Bill Fry:But.
Midas:He's good, man.
Barack Gruber:So another.
Barack Gruber:Another topic I wanted to.
Barack Gruber:Well, Zach, I tell you what.
Barack Gruber:Before.
Barack Gruber:Before we move on to the next topic, I wanted to discuss Tuesday night.
Barack Gruber:We've all told everybody where we were, what we were going through.
Barack Gruber:Zach, tell us what.
Barack Gruber:What was your Tuesday night like?
Bill Fry:So I was playing Call of Duty with Heath.
Midas:Call of Duty.
Bill Fry:And I was watching Apocalypse.
Bill Fry:I was watching Cognitive Resonance, and they had Heathen right with them doing Alive.
Bill Fry:Just.
Bill Fry:And when he started pounding liquor, I was like, oh, no.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Bill Fry:So I just.
Bill Fry:I kept watching, and I was like, oh, it's blue.
Bill Fry:Oh, it's red.
Bill Fry:All right.
Bill Fry:This is like.
Bill Fry:It just kept getting worse.
Bill Fry:And I was just taking out my impotent rage on City.
Bill Fry:Like, there's nothing else I could do.
Bill Fry:I was like, this sucks.
Bill Fry:This sucks.
Bill Fry:And then, like, I instantly went to bed.
Bill Fry:Like, when we were done playing, I just went to bed and I was like, I'm gonna wake up to some terrible, terrible news.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, it was.
Barack Gruber:And, and, and again, we acknowledge it and we accept that it happened and we accept the.
Barack Gruber:The failure was our own doing.
Barack Gruber:It doesn't, you know, it doesn't matter how much work you do at that national level, the impact that I have, that Zach has, that Midas has, that Bill has.
Barack Gruber:Well, Bill, no impact.
Bill Fry:The thing that kills me, he has.
Barack Gruber:To keep his opinion quiet.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:With his affiliations, just the people.
Bill Fry:The people that I know that, like, started sharing stupid ass memes of like Harris and Louis, UFC corner with Joe Rogan, being like, you're down.
Bill Fry:Like, I was just like, you're.
Bill Fry:You're the dumbest son of a.
Bill Fry:I knew in high school.
Bill Fry:You.
Bill Fry:Like, I'm surprised you drive a car, much less that you found a voting machine.
Bill Fry:Odds are you didn't even vote.
Bill Fry:You're just happy for no re.
Bill Fry:Like, it's just.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, you know what?
Bill Fry:You know, never underestimate the power as stupid.
Bill Fry:And it's just.
Barack Gruber:That's the guy that couldn't figure out how to tie his shoes with both hands.
Barack Gruber:So he figured out with one.
Midas:Kind.
Bill Fry:Of person that you see it like a job that they hate.
Bill Fry:And you're like, were you funny in high school?
Bill Fry:And they're like, yeah.
Bill Fry:And like, was it worth it?
Barack Gruber:I want.
Barack Gruber:Go ahead.
Barack Gruber:Sorry.
Midas:No, I was just gonna say too.
Midas:You know, you have.
Midas:I think I said this before we came on live, but you have a certain percentage of people who have the mindset of, you know, this is all rigged.
Midas:My vote doesn't count.
Midas:You know, that.
Midas:That sort of mindset.
Midas:Sometimes I don't know if it would equate to how many.
Midas:How many did you say that that turned up Democratic?
Midas:The number that Democratic wise, that didn't even place a vote.
Barack Gruber:We're probably.
Barack Gruber: robably at least comparing to: Barack Gruber:Anywhere between 6.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:14 and 16 million.
Midas:Yeah, I don't know if it would be that.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:And I don't know if what the angle of which I'm presenting, if it will be that many.
Midas:You know, and I did say when I went to vote Saturday, there was a young lady who was a Winthrop student and she came in under the impression she could vote up here in Rock Hill.
Midas:She's from Greenville, and she wasn't able to vote.
Midas:You know, she said her mother had told her it'd be all right this and that, but they said no, you would have had to do a melon vote.
Midas:So.
Midas:But you're not going to be able to vote here.
Midas:And, you know, with the election being on Tuesday, which is the final day to vote and that was a Saturday, I highly doubt she was.
Midas:She drove home just to place her vote on, you know, so some of that, that just in my experiences, I know that was something I saw live and direct, you know.
Midas:But then you do have people who have that mindset like it's all rigged.
Midas:They already got the winner picked anyway, so I'm not going out to vote.
Bill Fry:Hey, that's Childs and all that.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Barack Gruber:I'm gonna.
Barack Gruber:I'm gonna say this right now.
Barack Gruber:Elections are not the NFL.
Barack Gruber:The script isn't already written.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:You have to go out because the Falcons lost Kansas City Chiefs in a game that they should have won.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Midas:And you know, man, especially being a African American male, you know, I have to think about the people that, you know who died, who, you know, or ancestor wise didn't get this opportunity to vote, to have a say.
Midas:So as it pertains to life in the United States of America.
Midas:So it was my due diligence to make sure that I got out and cast it, casted my vote.
Bill Fry:You know, she was like, my vote's not gonna matter.
Bill Fry:And I was like 104 years ago.
Bill Fry:We're fighting for this.
Bill Fry:Please.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bill Fry:Whether it's regardless or not, like, make time, you know, like, it's a.
Bill Fry:It's thing that needs to be respected.
Midas:Absolutely.
Midas:Absolutely.
Famous:I will say on top of all that, I am just a little curious to hear about what y'all thought about some of the local race races, like Heather Bauer, Russell Ott.
Barack Gruber:Congratulations.
Bill Fry:Congratulations.
Barack Gruber:Heather Bowers, Russell Ott, Jermaine Jones.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:I mean, yeah.
Famous:One again.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Did Evangeline.
Midas:Did Evangeline win?
Barack Gruber:No.
Midas:Well, she didn't win.
Midas:Okay.
Midas:I voted for her.
Midas:Shout out to Evangeline Hundley.
Midas:You know.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:I don't think Matt falls into my district, but I would have voted.
Midas:I would have voted for him, too.
Bill Fry:We had David Robinson on, and I loved everything he had to say.
Bill Fry:I voted for him.
Bill Fry:But I hate to see that Joe Wilson won yet again.
Barack Gruber:Well, again, I will say this.
Barack Gruber:Joe Wilson, while I disagree with his politics, I will say that Joe Wilson, as the person that represents our district, has always been accessible to me, has answered the phone when I called and has provided assistance for people that have.
Barack Gruber:Have asked for it.
Barack Gruber:And he has.
Barack Gruber:While, while I guarantee you he voted for Donald Trump, he has never been one of those representatives to me that has come out and touted Donald Trump's.
Barack Gruber:He has never, he's never said that he, that he's aligned himself with the things that Donald Trump says.
Barack Gruber:I've seen him, I've seen comments where he has said that Donald Trump should stop tweeting, Donald Trump should hold his comments.
Barack Gruber:You know, so while, while I didn't vote for Joe Wilson, I voted for David Robinson.
Barack Gruber:He was on the show, he showed that he was an individual, he was a candidate, and he was ready to represent our district.
Barack Gruber:And I voted for him because I thought that he is the next generation of who should represent the House District 20.
Barack Gruber:What are we, House District 2?
Famous:Sorry, I forgot I'm in six, actually, which is Nancy area?
Famous:No, no, Clyburn.
Barack Gruber:Oh, Clyburn.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:You know, so you have to, you.
Midas:Have to vote for who you feel is going to be the best candidate in your opinion, who, who aligns with your ideals and, you know, things of that nature.
Midas:You know, so I get it.
Midas:I get it.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I get it.
Bill Fry:I don't know how old you are, but I know that Barrett's like 75.
Midas:46, man, 46.
Midas:I just turned 46 October 9th.
Bill Fry:So.
Barack Gruber:Did I welcome Zach to the show yet?
Barack Gruber:Yeah, I have an introduction written down here somewhere.
Barack Gruber:Hold on, let me get.
Barack Gruber:Let me have another sip before I.
Bill Fry:Welcome to the show.
Barack Gruber:Zach King, funniest guy on the planet.
Midas:He is, isn't he?
Bill Fry:Was it.
Bill Fry:This could.
Bill Fry:Where people this shitty to each other when, when Bush was running.
Midas:Well, what I was saying too, before you got on here, man, like I remember growing up, right, and you didn't even really discuss politics openly.
Midas:I think social, social media changed the whole landscape of that.
Famous:Sure.
Midas:I just remember being a kid and you know, even, you know, election time and things.
Midas:I mean, I remember when Reagan and all of that, you know, growing up.
Midas:Yeah, I was born in 78.
Midas:But you know, even amongst.
Midas:When you.
Midas:My parents didn't discuss, you know, really openly who.
Midas:Who they had in mind as far as the ideal choice for a candidate for presidency.
Midas:You didn't discuss it out.
Midas:No, but I think now nowadays we're in the era of social media and everybody runs to the computer or the phone to voice, you know, their choice, especially opinion.
Midas:Yeah, especially.
Midas:Especially when it comes to politics.
Midas:Right.
Midas:And.
Midas:And it's like, it's so, it's.
Midas:It's so divisive.
Midas:To do it and people will go back and forth.
Midas:So honest.
Midas:So I guess I'm tying it all together.
Midas:But you know, honestly, I don't, I don't make posts in regards to politics.
Midas:I, I read others posts, but I don't comment because I don't have time to go back and forth.
Midas:You know what I mean?
Midas:I, I know what I, I know what I feel.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:So I don't even talk that on social media because a lot of times people just gonna say a lot of reckless stuff they would never say to you to your face, you know.
Midas:But what I.
Midas:So what I was getting back to.
Midas:So.
Midas:Yeah, it, it wasn't even discussed like that prior in my, in my observations prior to social media.
Midas:Social media has made the whole politics and running for this and that and elections of extra dirty game.
Midas:It's already dirty, but it's, it makes it extra dirty.
Bill Fry:I'm, I'm 36, so.
Midas:Okay.
Bill Fry:I was growing up in Bush was running.
Bill Fry:You had, you had things come out like movements like Rock Against Bush where they made compilations of like bands.
Bill Fry:Green Day, clearly a good example.
Bill Fry:Rise against another example that like Vietnam, they couldn't stand what was being done with the Bush administration and Cheney and stuff.
Midas:Yeah.
Bill Fry:I think that might have been like very tip of the iceberg of people.
Bill Fry:Like, so you don't talk religion and politics, you turn on social media.
Bill Fry:It is religion and politics.
Bill Fry:That's.
Bill Fry:Yeah, that's a driving force completely behind this election.
Bill Fry:All of it.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:I think one of the biggest issues with the availability of social media is that it's almost anonymous in the way that people get to view their opinions or express their opinion.
Midas:Give the.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, give.
Barack Gruber:It is.
Barack Gruber:I've, I've called it, you know, hate from a distance, you know, because like.
Bill Fry:Vicarious hate that you can elect somebody and watch the world burn and you just live and watch.
Bill Fry:Yeah, there we go.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Famous:I mean, putting on a mask in the middle of a thing and doing whatever you want to someone without getting away with.
Barack Gruber:Exactly.
Midas:Right.
Barack Gruber:Exactly.
Barack Gruber:It's.
Barack Gruber:And it's the same as, it's the same as, you know, egging someone's house in the middle of the night.
Barack Gruber:They don't know you did it until the next morning when they're like, why can't I see out my window?
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:You know, it's such a passive way.
Barack Gruber:It's such a passive aggressive way of avoiding having a legitimate conversation.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:And actually while we're on the topic, Zach is my partner in this podcast.
Barack Gruber:And Zach, I Not to put you on the spot, but I am probably going to shut down our Twitter account or our X account, mostly because for.
Bill Fry:What I'm with you.
Barack Gruber:It doesn't produce anything for us.
Barack Gruber:We get so little.
Barack Gruber:We have been shadow.
Barack Gruber:Our account has been shadow account for probably the last, I don't know, almost a year.
Barack Gruber:I mean, we used to go from, from being.
Barack Gruber:To go from being.
Barack Gruber:You know, we'd have thousands of views.
Barack Gruber:It wouldn't, it wouldn't equate into people, at least, you know, they weren't, they weren't commenting, they weren't always liking.
Famous:Right.
Barack Gruber:But we would get thousands of views on our posts.
Barack Gruber:Now we're down to 5 and 10.
Midas:Oh, wow.
Bill Fry:Oh, dude, it's.
Bill Fry:Look at this.
Bill Fry:It's right with it.
Bill Fry:So I had to create a second account for some like, business stuff I'm doing for Twitter.
Bill Fry:Liked or followed a single thing in and every instant like article that I get.
Bill Fry:Everything on the feed is right wing lunacy.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:And you know who hangs out over there?
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Bill Fry:When I accidentally log into that one, I'm like, Jesus Christ.
Bill Fry:Like, what.
Bill Fry:What is going on?
Famous:The leading report, the one you're talking about me?
Famous:No.
Famous:Or no, I was talking about one of the, one of the medias.
Famous:There's like a.
Famous:I'm.
Famous:I'm not on X a lot either.
Famous:It's just like there's one that's the leading report and I've never seen.
Midas:I got you.
Bill Fry:I'll look it up right now.
Famous:It is, it is wild.
Bill Fry:Wild, dude.
Famous:It is one of the comments.
Barack Gruber:One of the comments somebody said to me earlier today was that, you know, Twitter instantly.
Bill Fry:Matt Walsh.
Barack Gruber:Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barack Gruber:Okay, so.
Barack Gruber: ll were worried about Project: Barack Gruber:Well, guess what?
Barack Gruber:It's real and we're doing it.
Barack Gruber:That's not exactly what he said, but he's my president.
Bill Fry:It's.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Bill Fry:One.
Midas:That's.
Midas:Yeah, that.
Midas:And there was Jones and he's.
Midas:And he's a.
Midas:Elon Musk owns that platform and he's affiliated with, with Trump as well, you know, so it's all.
Bill Fry:I got a psycho putting.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:And.
Barack Gruber:And he's also created the cheapest.
Barack Gruber:Well, he didn't create it.
Barack Gruber:And I do this.
Barack Gruber:I hound on this idea that Tesla.
Bill Fry:We got the darkest timelines.
Bill Fry:Iron man, that's what we got.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:But I don't fault Tesla for being bad because of Elon.
Barack Gruber:Musk.
Barack Gruber:I fault Tesla for being bad because they modeled the Dodge Neon and said, let's put batteries in it.
Barack Gruber:And that's what they did.
Bill Fry:You really to the Dodge Neon?
Barack Gruber:Leroy's already told me smudging the Dodge Neon.
Barack Gruber:Dodge Neon's a great.
Barack Gruber:Dodge Neon was a great car if all you had was, was 300 for a down payment.
Bill Fry:You know, it's funny, they didn't even buy.
Bill Fry:I remember put theirs out.
Bill Fry:They're like, it's also the Neon, the Plymouth.
Midas:Oh, yeah, yeah, they are.
Midas:They were similar, weren't they?
Midas:And they did.
Midas:They have similar body.
Midas:Wow.
Barack Gruber:It was okay.
Midas:Wow.
Midas:That is right.
Bill Fry:Neon, Plymouth Neon.
Bill Fry:We're not even changing the name.
Barack Gruber:So the last, the last thing I want to talk about before we get done, and this is the one I think that bothers me the most, is that all of Donald Trump's federal cases are in the process of winding down and wrapping up.
Barack Gruber:So you have the January 6th case and you have the documents case.
Barack Gruber:Both of these cases are ultimately coming to an end.
Barack Gruber:Jack Smith is, is.
Barack Gruber:Is.
Barack Gruber:There's nowhere else for Jack Smith because there is this unstated rule or un, unwritten rule that you do not investigate a sitting president or the president elect.
Midas:Yeah, I was reading about that.
Bill Fry:So those unspoken rules of baseball.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barack Gruber:Like the no fly rule.
Bill Fry:We can get into one.
Bill Fry:I'm knocking homers if I put it down the plate.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:So.
Barack Gruber:So I just want to say this, and I wrote it down and I'm going to read it verbatim for what I wrote, and I hope I didn't write it incorrectly.
Barack Gruber:But for those listening, Donald Trump is an adjudicated felon, regardless of whether you think he was wrongfully convicted.
Barack Gruber:A jury of his peers, regardless of their opinions of him, regardless of their political leanings, regardless of any feelings, he is and always will be a convicted felony.
Barack Gruber:He may win on appeal, which absolutely, he's welcome to appeal.
Barack Gruber:It's within his rights.
Barack Gruber:But forever, he will be a convicted felon.
Barack Gruber:He will die a convicted felon.
Barack Gruber:Even if he wins on appeal, he will be a convicted felon.
Barack Gruber:He will be the first and likely only president that we ever elect with felony convictions.
Barack Gruber:And that is a fact that cannot be denied without it being in a state of denial.
Barack Gruber:So, I guess, what are your reactions to the fact that Donald Trump is and will always be a convicted felon, that now his party has elected him?
Midas:Well, it looks bad, right?
Midas:To be a person of that magnitude of leadership, such as the President of the United States to have these things on your record.
Midas:And if he can, and if he can hold that position with these things on his record, then I feel like all applications should take.
Midas:Should take that off offer the application.
Bill Fry:Right, Put it on the presidential application.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Yes.
Midas:I mean, hey, listen, you have to be held accountable at some point.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, you have to be held accountable.
Midas:Should they, should they wind it down because he's now, you know, elected president?
Bill Fry:Hell no.
Midas:That's, that's, that's tough.
Midas:But I see, I see the plan coming together.
Midas:You know, it's like, okay, well, it's all kind of tailor made, but none of us, none of us could go out here and have these things on our record and fire asses like.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, could not be a janitor at a public school with a conviction.
Barack Gruber:With, with a felony conviction.
Midas:Right.
Bill Fry:That's what I mean, irony that.
Bill Fry:That party of guns and he can't own a firearm, but he can point the military wherever he so sees fit.
Midas:Yeah.
Bill Fry:To me is just wild.
Bill Fry:Like you can't do the gun stuff, but we have a millions and millions of people that you can tell where to go.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah.
Famous:No, it's gonna be.
Famous:No, it was gonna be interest because what.
Famous:November 26th is also gonna be North.
Barack Gruber:New York's New York sentencing hearing.
Midas:Okay.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Famous:Which I'm like, is the judge gonna give him a break?
Famous:Probably, yeah, 100%.
Famous:Because that judge will be out of their mind.
Bill Fry:And does he rule from jail like an old school mafia don?
Barack Gruber:So the reason.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, like Goodfellas or.
Barack Gruber:Goodfellas.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:The reasoning.
Barack Gruber:The reasoning will be that this is his first.
Barack Gruber:His, his first felony convictions.
Barack Gruber:It doesn't matter that there were 34 of them.
Barack Gruber:The reasoning, I guarantee you will be that this is a first time offender.
Barack Gruber:And ultimately these are the.
Barack Gruber:But ultimately these are, these are white collar crimes.
Barack Gruber:This isn't, this isn't something that, that most people go to jail for.
Barack Gruber:This is something that most people would pay a steep fine for.
Barack Gruber:And maybe he'll have to pay a.
Barack Gruber:Maybe he'll have to pay another steep fine.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:But it doesn't matter.
Barack Gruber:He'll.
Barack Gruber:He'll make sure that any appeals make their way all the way to the Supreme Court.
Barack Gruber:To which Clarence Thomas, Alito, Comey, Barrett Roberts, and did I name all of them.
Bill Fry:Oh, the people who have bend over and lick their own assholes to make.
Barack Gruber:Sure he's okay and will rule in favor and he will not pay any fines.
Famous:And if it wasn't, it could be them, but also if they stepped down and he replaces them with 40 year old.
Barack Gruber:Look, basically Trump, Trump, Trump winning the election gives Clarence Thomas and Alito basically the permission to go ahead and retire.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:And if it was anybody else, Republicans.
Famous:Will have the Supreme Court for the next 30 years.
Famous:30 years, maybe longer.
Barack Gruber:Comey Barrett, basically Midas and my age.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Kavanaugh is, is just barely over our age.
Midas:Yeah.
Bill Fry:That's why we need action.
Bill Fry:That, that's where the action is needed.
Midas:Yeah.
Bill Fry:In her mailbox for the next 30 years.
Bill Fry:Every time she has an awful or an opinion on a piece like somebody has to do something, I'm telling you.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:But you know, if it make it.
Bill Fry:Unbearable, make the, make, make their actions have consequences like yeah, be mad.
Bill Fry:We need some more rage against the machine kind of shit.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Midas:But.
Midas:And if it was anybody else besides him, would they be so, would they be so lenient?
Barack Gruber:No, no, I don't think so.
Barack Gruber:I think that, I think that him as president, Donald Trump as president basically is a free pass for the conservative MAGA wing and the Supreme Court to basically they will use Donald Trump as their tool to pass things like a national abortion ban.
Barack Gruber:I, you know, if the House, if the House isn't, if the House isn't in the Democrats control.
Barack Gruber:Which we'll find out, I'm hopefully by Saturday.
Barack Gruber:But if the Democrats don't have the House, if the House is.
Barack Gruber:House and Senate are both in control of Donald Trump.
Barack Gruber:The executive branch in control of Donald Trump and the Supreme Court.
Barack Gruber:The judicial branch is in control of.
Barack Gruber:By Donald Trump.
Barack Gruber:We basically have.
Barack Gruber:Donald Trump has unfettered access to pretty much do whatever he wants.
Barack Gruber:He doesn't have to pass unless there's a filibuster rule.
Bill Fry:You want to know who I feel the worst for right now?
Barack Gruber:Well, let me just say on the filibuster rule, I have fear that the Republicans will get rid of the filibuster rule because.
Barack Gruber:Or at least for the time frame speak that long.
Bill Fry:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Well, no, it's because they'll have, they'll have the majority vote and can vote out the filibuster rule.
Barack Gruber:And, and which means that they can pass anything through the Senate that they want.
Barack Gruber:All they need is 51 votes and they're at 52 right now.
Midas:Okay.
Barack Gruber:And they may, it may increase to 56.
Famous:And it's such an interesting thing because short term, the filibuster rule never seems to be great.
Famous:Long term too, there's so many pros and cons because there's a, there's a real bipartisan push to have wanted to get rid of the filibuster rule for many years to be in this situation.
Famous:This is.
Famous:This will be.
Famous:This will be interesting.
Barack Gruber:Oh, I completely reversed my opinion on the filibuster.
Barack Gruber:I have always been in.
Barack Gruber:I have always been in favor of getting rid of the filibuster because it.
Barack Gruber:It gives the minority power.
Barack Gruber:It gives minority power.
Barack Gruber:It gives the minority power.
Barack Gruber:It takes.
Barack Gruber:I'm sorry, I'm saying it wrong.
Barack Gruber:It gives the power to the minority party.
Barack Gruber:And because basically right now, Mitch McConnell can.
Barack Gruber:Can.
Barack Gruber:Can filibuster or threaten to filibuster any bill that the scent that the Democrats try and put up.
Barack Gruber:He can do it.
Barack Gruber:And it.
Barack Gruber:And nothing comes across.
Bill Fry:It was in.
Bill Fry:If I was in the House or unit and I got the filibuster one day, I would read the strategy guide for Legend of Zelda and Ocarina of Time.
Bill Fry:You may not know what a strategy guide is, but it's going to be an amazing long time for everybody.
Barack Gruber:It would be very entertaining, too.
Barack Gruber:It would be very entertaining.
Bill Fry:Let me tell you who I feel the worst for.
Bill Fry:Who's that custodian that's in the White House last Thursday and rubbed the carpet after vacuuming?
Bill Fry:He's like, it's gone.
Bill Fry:Think of Trump is gone.
Bill Fry:Tuesday came and he was like, God damn it.
Midas:This back, huh?
Midas:This guy is off the chain, man.
Midas:He's off the shade.
Bill Fry:He's never coming out.
Bill Fry:Do it all orange.
Bill Fry:I don't give a anymore.
Bill Fry:He just quits.
Barack Gruber:I'm not wrong.
Bill Fry:Shut down, you all.
Bill Fry:I'm out.
Barack Gruber:You're not.
Barack Gruber:You're not wrong.
Midas:Yeah, man.
Zach King:Listen.
Bill Fry:Can you imagine?
Bill Fry:You've heard the Vietnam spitting stories, how they can't stay in the Oval Office because the couches are too close together, because spit comes from Trump's mouth and hits everybody and they're all like, hey, say, let's fucking.
Bill Fry:Can we not.
Bill Fry:How about.
Bill Fry:How about a team's meeting?
Bill Fry:Would you like.
Barack Gruber:Exactly.
Barack Gruber:Can we go back to Covid?
Midas:Oh, my gosh.
Famous:I will.
Barack Gruber:I will.
Barack Gruber:I will just say this.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:That for.
Barack Gruber:For those out there that.
Barack Gruber:That absolutely are ecstatic over the fact that the person that they voted for, the Donald Trump won the election.
Barack Gruber:I will just say the dim light.
Barack Gruber:I hope that what you get is what you wanted.
Barack Gruber:There are a number of promises that Donald Trump made, and we, as a podcast, are going to.
Barack Gruber:We're going to ask the questions.
Barack Gruber:We're going to hold them accountable to it.
Barack Gruber:Now, I don't think he cares about our podcast.
Bill Fry:But held accountable for anything.
Barack Gruber:That's right.
Barack Gruber:You know, the war in Ukraine is supposed to end within 24 hours of the.
Barack Gruber:Of the day that he takes the oath.
Bill Fry:All the illegal supposed to be gone.
Barack Gruber:So mass deportation within 24 hours of him taking the oath.
Bill Fry:Day one.
Barack Gruber:These are two things.
Barack Gruber:These are day one things he said that he would take care of and he would do it with the powers of a dictator.
Barack Gruber:So, you know, but if that happens.
Bill Fry:I'll be A, impressed, B, terrified because our economy will be.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, My, my fear is, is that he, he definitely recognizes people like Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff.
Barack Gruber:These are Jimmy Kimmel.
Barack Gruber:Jimmy Kimmel.
Barack Gruber:Jamie Rasenberger.
Barack Gruber:No, Jamie Raskin.
Barack Gruber:These are, these are individuals that.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, these are individuals that, because of their association with the J6 trial or the hearings.
Barack Gruber:These are individuals that he has out of his mouth said that these are people that should face a military tribunal and put to death.
Barack Gruber:And he said that.
Barack Gruber:That Liz Cheney should have a gun, a firing squad pointed at her face.
Midas:That's crazy.
Bill Fry:Go through her dad, you fat piece of.
Midas:That's crazy.
Barack Gruber:People in the face without, on accident, you know, hunting with them.
Bill Fry:Yeah, it's going to be fantastic.
Barack Gruber:And Dick Cheney has the power.
Barack Gruber:Dick Cheney has the power to shoot somebody in the face.
Barack Gruber:And a week later, they're apologizing Dick Cheney for being in front of their gun.
Bill Fry:And also it's Halliburton.
Bill Fry:So there's the.
Bill Fry:Listen, have y'all seen the movie Civil War?
Bill Fry:That was the Apple movie.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Bill Fry:I hope this.
Midas:I haven't seen it.
Bill Fry:Be fantastic.
Barack Gruber:Oh, you want, you want the Civil War?
Bill Fry:The Civil War.
Bill Fry:You want the end of the movie?
Barack Gruber:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Midas:I have to go watch it now, guys.
Bill Fry:To come get you.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:I'll just say that Ron Swanson.
Barack Gruber:Ron Swanson was not a good president.
Midas:And this is on.
Midas:This is on Apple.
Bill Fry:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Midas:Okay.
Midas:Okay.
Bill Fry:It is a very jarring.
Bill Fry:It's a little hyperbolic because for sure it.
Bill Fry:It went down the kind of the Twilight Zone of what if.
Midas:Yeah.
Bill Fry:2016.
Bill Fry:2020.
Midas:Okay.
Bill Fry:But thing I was just like be so bad.
Midas:Yeah.
Midas:Okay.
Midas:Okay.
Barack Gruber:As long as we're shouting out movies, which.
Barack Gruber:A Civil war on Apple.
Barack Gruber:I will say, I want to say this.
Barack Gruber:If you haven't seen it yet, Netflix number one movie for like three weeks was don't move.
Barack Gruber:I will, I will say the reason that you should see it is because the person who stars in it, I apparently know her.
Midas:Really.
Barack Gruber:But we'll get into that later, you know?
Bill Fry:Yeah, we're working on something.
Barack Gruber:Working in progress.
Famous:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:I would just say we're trying to get Kelsey on the show and.
Midas:Okay, cool, man.
Barack Gruber:We might have an inroad on that.
Barack Gruber:I absolutely love Yellowstone.
Barack Gruber:I think that it is one of the best written shows that's on television right now, and I'm thankful it's coming back so that we can wrap up the whole story and Taylor Sheridan can get on to maybe focusing on the reboot of Justified.
Bill Fry:I'll tell you what's funny.
Bill Fry:My wife was watching the preview for I don't think you should move or whatever.
Barack Gruber:Yeah, don't move.
Bill Fry:Like, where she's watching it.
Bill Fry:And I was like, I don't think she should move.
Bill Fry:And she's like, shut up.
Bill Fry:And I'm like, I don't think she should move.
Bill Fry:She shouldn't move.
Bill Fry:She's moving.
Bill Fry:She shouldn't.
Bill Fry:And she's like, please leave.
Bill Fry:I'm like, I just don't think she should.
Bill Fry:She shouldn't move.
Midas:Yeah.
Bill Fry:She'S drugged.
Bill Fry:Okay.
Famous:I did watch this.
Bill Fry:Okay.
Midas:I gotta catch up on my movies.
Barack Gruber:Kelsey.
Barack Gruber:Kelsey Aspel as Bill.
Barack Gruber:Okay.
Barack Gruber:Her.
Barack Gruber:Her.
Barack Gruber:Her.
Barack Gruber:That's her stage name.
Barack Gruber:Her actual name is Kelsey.
Barack Gruber:Her actual name is Kelsey Chow.
Barack Gruber:It's in her.
Barack Gruber:It's in her Wikipedia.
Barack Gruber:But if we.
Barack Gruber:If we get her on the show, we'll discuss how it is, so that'll be cool.
Midas:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:So real quick, that's gonna do it for episode number 230.
Midas:Awesome, man.
Midas:Yeah.
Bill Fry:Thank you for having us, man.
Barack Gruber:I know there's been so many.

Midas:I'm have to tip out to it and then just in time get the kids ready.
Bill Fry:That's why I was late was dad duties.
Barack Gruber:Exactly.
Midas:Yeah, yeah, we understand.
Barack Gruber:Yeah.
Barack Gruber:Bill's the only one that can't.
Barack Gruber:The Bill's the only one that can't.
Barack Gruber:He can't.
Barack Gruber:He can't participate.
Midas:Claim that.
Midas:Yeah, yeah.
Midas:He's a young man.
Bill Fry:He's got bad and good decisions.
Barack Gruber:Bill, like I said, if you're gonna do it, go to a blue state.
Barack Gruber:Your.
Barack Gruber:Your partner.
Barack Gruber:Wife will be more protected in a blue state.
